Greek airline Aegean Airlines is launching a new route between London and Larnaca this month. The move presents a real challenge for beleagured Cyprus Airways, which has served that route since the 1950s and it is one of its few profitable services. Aegean operates scheduled and charter services from Athens and Thessaloniki to other major Greek destinations as well as to a number of European destinations. It plans to increase the frequency of flights from Cyprus to Greek destinations this year also.
