9Air to start flights

9 Air, the wholly-owned low-cost subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines, will take its inaugural flight from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang in end October or early November.

Speaking to the Guangzhou Daily, 9Air president Ji Guangping confirmed that the start-up airline will focus on short-haul regional routes and some exclusive routes in the initially stage, and then expand its overseas reach in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia once it has consolidated its domestic network. 9 Air plans to introduce 26 Airbus A320s or Boeing 737s in the next five years and will own 60 aircraft by 2020.

9Air, which was granted approval by CAAC Central and South Regional Administration in February, is a joint venture between Juneyao Airlines and CTI.
